Analyze HTML Elements & Microformats w/ Semantic Checker | Search Engine Journal
“Semantic Checker is a new and still experimental Firefox addon (download it here) highlighting semantic elements in the web page you are currently viewing. The tool should be used for on-page analysis as well for educational purposes (to see which sites are introducing new HTML elements and microformats, for example). “
SenseBot and other products by Semantic Engines
SenseBot (Beta) is a semantic search engine that generates a text summary of multiple Web pages on the topic of your search query. It uses text mining and multidocument summarization to extract sense from Web pages and present it to the user in a coherent manner. A “Semantic Cloud” of concepts is displayed above the summary, allowing to steer the focus of the results. Online service, installable product, SAAS, API etc.
Location-aware search with Apache Lucene and Solr
Recently, however, the popular open source search library, Apache Lucene, and the powerful Lucene-powered search server, Apache Solr, have added spatial capabilities. Lucene and Solr committer Grant Ingersoll walks you through the basics of spatial search and shows you how to leverage its capabilities to power your next location-aware application. If you are interested in building out a more significant GIS application, you will need to add much more sophisticated capabilities for route finding, shape intersection, and a great deal more. But if you need to build out a solid search application that combines the structure of point-based locations with unstructured text, then look no further than Lucene and Solr.
